Man injured in police chase after shooting at deputies

During the pursuit, Wicker shot at deputies from his vehicle. A Treutlen County deputy then used a PIT maneuver to end the chase in Montgomery County.

MOUNT VERNON, Georgia – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is looking into an shooting involving Treutlen and Laurens Counties deputies on November 19.

According to the GBI, a Laurens County deputy stopped 32-year-od Kadeem Amir Wicker, of Wrightsville,  on I-16 for reckless driving.

Investigators say when the deputy approached the vehicle, Wicker drove away.  The chase went into Treutlen County, where deputies joined the pursuit.

During the pursuit, Wicker shot at deputies from his vehicle. A Treutlen County deputy then used a PIT maneuver to end the chase in Montgomery County. As a result, Wicker was injured and taken to the hospital where he remains.

A gun and drugs were found at the scene of the crash.

The GBI says this is an ongoing investigation.
