MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) –  As the holiday season rolls around, the Salvation Army and the Macon community have joined hands to support families in need.

The Salvation Army has set up its Angel Tree program at the Shoppes at River Crossing. Once a child is accepted as an ‘angel’, their Christmas wish list is shared with donors in the community, who can then purchase a gift for the child.

The goal to adopt this year was set high according to Sergeant Sarah Sturdivant with the Salvation Army.

“Our goal is 300 families and we are almost there,” she said. “But we’re doing really well, and a lot of our all of our angels actually have already been adopted. We’re just waiting on the gifts to come back at this point.”

You can still grab an angel from the tree anytime Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., or Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

All gifts must be delivered by December 13.
