Blight Removal

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A former Macon grocery store was demolished Wednesday as part of Macon-Bibb County’s Blight Fight initiative.

The Bateman and Wade building sat vacant for nearly 10 years in the Vineville neighborhood at the intersection of Rogers Avenue and Clayton Street.

The property was donated to Macon-Bibb County earlier this month and was deemed unsafe by the county’s Code Enforcement.

According to Macon-Bibb Mayor Lester Miller, the building’s removal will help strengthen the community.
