MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has released plans to widen Bass Road from Providence Boulevard to New Forsyth Road.

GDOT says the plan would relieve traffic congestion and reduce crashes.

The project would widen part of Bass Road from two lanes to four lanes, with a 20-foot raised median and 12-foot shoulders.

The bridges on Bass Road over Interstate 75 and Beaver Dam Creek would be replaced, and crews would install three roundabouts.

If the plans are approved, construction would begin in 2028.
