MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Foodies and sports enthusiasts rejoice: Taco Mac in Macon has officially opened its doors.

The restaurant held its grand opening Thursday morning, and it was a packed house with customers eager to try something new.

It boasts a menu of made-from-scratch foods, including starters, burgers, salads, sandwiches and fresh, never frozen wings. The bar features more than 80 beers on tap.

According to tacomac.com, the idea for the restaurant started in 1979 when “a couple of guys from Buffalo, NY, made a pit stop in Atlanta on their way to Florida. After touring the city and enjoying the weather, they decided to stay and bring their favorite food, buffalo wings, to the sunny South.”

Taco Mac now has more than two dozen locations. Most of them are in metro Atlanta, with one in Pelham, Alabama and one in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

The Macon restaurant, located on Bowman Road in north Macon, is open from 11 a.m. to 12 a.m. Sunday through Wednesday and from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Thursday through Saturday.
