MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Tattnall Square Academy in Macon hosted its 37th annual “Kids Yule Love” program on Friday. It’s a holiday tradition during which faculty and students donate gifts for children in need across Middle Georgia.

The event features a tree under which the Tattnall community places their donated gifts. These presents are collected by “Kids Yule Love,” a local non-profit, for distribution to children who might not otherwise have gifts for the holidays.

“Coming to Tattnall and seeing everything that these students put on, their parents, the school with the program, it’s absolutely amazing,” Chris Allen said. He’s Kids Yule Love’s Public Relations Director and the son of the organization’s founder, Joe Allen. “They’re one of our main contributors to the Kids Yule Love program here in the Middle Georgia area.”

The program also included a Christmas performance by students and faculty, featuring singing, dancing, a visit from Santa Claus and a live nativity scene.

Julie Scott, a teacher at Tattnall Square Academy, spoke about the excitement the program generates among students.

“The kids love being able to give and bring the toys, and we take a lot of joy in seeing how many we can pile up behind the tree here,” she said. “They love to put them under the tree; they get excited about it, and it’s just fun to share in that tradition with them.”

Preparation for the annual event begins at the start of the school year.
