$25 Million Redevelopment Project Coming To Downtown Macon

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A $25,000,000 redevelopment project is underway in downtown Macon, after the demolition of the Joseph N. Neel Department Store and Blair’s Discount Furniture on Cherry and Third Streets.

The properties will be replaced by 95 lofts, new retail spaces, and 9 offices. Newtown Macon is apart of the project, and says that the new development will pave the way for a bigger downtown area.

“This will lead to more businesses, more feet on the street,” says Emily Hopkins, Vice President of External Affairs for Newtown Macon.

Hopkins says the last demolition will be completed by the end of this month, and the redevelopment is set to be completed by the Spring of 2025.
