FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Fort Valley voters have decided the future of their city council, choosing new representatives for the East and West Wards and the at-large seat.

Following administrative disagreements and charter confusion, Tuesday’s runoff elections were necessary after no candidate achieved a majority vote on Election Day in November, the city administrator explained last month.

In the East Ward race, Sandra Marshall beat incumbent Alonzo J. Allen in a field that initially included Scakajawea Lakenna Wright. The West Ward race saw Henry Howard Jr. defeat Marcus A. Agostino in a race that initially included Ralph L. Davis II. For the at-large seat, Laronda F. Eason won against incumbent Scott Morrill. Shakeena B. Reeves was a contender in the initial race.

The Peach County Board of Elections Office confirmed the race winners by phone Tuesday night.

Davisboro elects new mayor

In a runoff election in Davisboro, Valerie Gail Brown won the mayoral race against Randy McNeely.

McNeely acknowledged his defeat and thanked his supporters in a Facebook post.

“Well the Davisboro election is over,” he wrote. “I want to thank everyone that supported me for Mayor, but just wasn’t enough.”

Exact vote counts for the Fort Valley and Davisboro races were not available at the time of reporting.

Allen wins runoff race for City of Forsyth council seat:

In the runoff race for the City of Forsyth City Council Post 3 seat, Lois Allen defeated Rosemary A. Walker 232-156 (59.8%) in a race that originally included Darren Latch.
