Atlanta Motor Speedway reopening tent campgrounds for July race weekend

HAMPTON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Tent campers and those camping in pop-ups will be welcomed back to Atlanta Motor Speedway for the July NASCAR race weekend.

That’s according to an AMS news release Friday, which said the track will also have its exterior restrooms and shower houses open for the July 10-11 Quaker State 400 Presented by Walmart weekend.

These amenities were closed for the NASCAR race weekend in March.

“We’ve been working hard to be ready for the day we can welcome tent campers back to the track for a race weekend and we’re thrilled it’s finally here,” AMS Executive Vice President and General Manager Brandon Hutchison said. “This year in NASCAR has been dubbed ‘the best season ever’; we’re shaping up to have the best summer ever here at AMS!”

Friday’s announcement comes after the track announced it would also return to 100% grandstand capacity.

Tent and soft-sided pop-up camping is available starting at $75 for an unreserved space. Reserved tent camping starts at $100.
