MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The FPD Vikings took on the Brookstone Cougars at Mercer’s Five Star Stadium Friday for the GIAA-AAAA state championship.
The Vikings beat Brookstone 46-28 in the second game of the regular season. FPD last won the state title in 1985 with Mark Farriba as head coach. The team has gone from 2-9 last season to the state championship game in Brett Collier’s first season as head coach.
The Cougars had won six games in a row. They’re coached by Rance Geillespie, who coached Peach County to two state championships in six years.
