Rain moves into Middle Georgia tonight; wet Wednesday expected

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A mass of tropical moisture will bring widespread shower activity to Middle Georgia starting tonight.

This Evening

Overcast skies will take over as the sun sets with light rain likely to move into the southern counties of Middle Georgia during that timeframe. It will be rather muggy overnight with the wind picking up out of the northeast. Sustained speeds will likely range from about 7-12 mph with gusts reaching upwards of 20 mph. Temperatures will largely bottom out in the lower 50s and upper 40s. Less than a quarter inch of rain is expected overnight.

Light to moderate rain will continue from the overnight hours and stick around through much of Wednesday. Winds will also be rather strong as the continue to come from the northeast with speeds of 10-15 mph. Gusts will likely push upwards of 30 mph with even stronger gusts likely in the evening. Temperatures will top off in the upper 50s for most of Middle Georgia Wednesday afternoon.

Overnight some showers will likely linger as the wind continues to howl from the northeast, now gusting upwards of 35 mph or higher. Overnight lows will be in the low to mid 50s thanks to the increased moisture as well as the strong winds.

Thursday and Beyond

Overcast skies will stick around the rest of the week with some small showers possible Thursday. A weak cold front will move through the Peach State on Friday, bringing some showers with it as well. Sunnier conditions should return over the weekend, however a second cold front has entered the picture for early next week.
