MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A new dessert shop is opening its doors to downtown Macon, serving up sweet treats and fond memories.

Nearly fifty people turned out for the grand opening of Sweet Eleanor’s on Poplar Street Friday.

Sweet Eleanor’s menu includes desserts, gelato, shakes, and coffee.

Owner Scott Mitchell says there will also be seasonal menu options just in time for the holidays.

“Right now our special is a total molten lava cake served with our caramel mocha latte,” said Mitchell. “It’s all the caramel and chocolate you could ever want in the world.”

The shop was named after owner Scott Mitchell’s grandmother, who would bake him treats as a child.

Mitchell says he hopes the shop will be a place where the community can come together.

Sweet Eleanor’s is open every day from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
