Washington County Sheriff’s Office: 1 dead in early Sunday fire

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A fire claimed the life of a 42-year-old in Washington County early Sunday morning.

Washington County Sheriff Joel Cochran wrote in a Facebook post that just before 5 a.m., deputies, fire crews and emergency medical services rushed to a multi-dwelling residential fire on Middle Hill Road. Upon arrival, they found the structure fully engulfed in flames. It took crews more than two hours to control the fire, which resulted in the destruction of three apartments.

According to Cochran, Temorie Renae Hill, formerly of Sparta, died in the fire.

“Please keep these victims and their families in your prayers,” he wrote.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Georgia Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating.
